Many buildings of the public institutions have been reconnected to the Chisinau centralized district heating system before the start of the heating season 2018-2019. 

Between them are the buildings of the Government, Ministry of health, labour and social protection, Republican Clinical Hospital, State Residence.

During the period 2016-2018 twenty public institutions have benefited from investment within the project to improve the effectiveness of thermal energy supply through installation of 78 Individual Heating Substations (IHS) and related thermal networks.

Reconnecting the public institutions’ buildings to the centralized municipal district heating network is benefic for the continuation of reforms in the energy sector. It improves the effectiveness of heat supply in Chisinau by increasing the load on the network and the thermal efficiency of the system (offering the possibility to further revise the tariffs for heat supplied to the final consumers).

Thus, MEPIU and Termoelectrica S.A., with the support of the Government of RM, continue facilitating the public institutions’ reconnection to the centralized district heading system under the works contract C 1.3 within the District Heating Efficiency Improvement Project (DHEIP) implemented with the World Bank financial support.
