One of the student dormitories benefiting from the Initiative to Nurture Sustainable Public Infrastructure through Energy Efficiency Renovations (INSPIREE) Project was recently visited by the General Director of the French Development Agency (AFD), Rémy Rioux, with the Ambassador of France to the Republic of Moldova, Her Excellency Dominique Waag and representatives of the AFD local office, the German Development Bank KfW, the Moldova Energy Projects Implementation Unit (MEPIU), and the Technical University of Moldova.
The visit highlighted the significance of the INSPIREE Project in modernizing 30 public buildings across the country – including hospitals and education facilities – by improving energy efficiency, reducing CO₂ emissions, and ensuring safer, more comfortable environments for patients, students, teachers, and medical staff.
The Project Initiative to Nurture Sustainable Public Infrastructure through Energy Efficiency Renovations (INSPIREE) is implemented by the Government of the Republic of Moldova through the Ministry of Energy and MEPIU, with support from the French Development Agency (EUR 30.0 million loan) and the Federal Government of Germany (EUR 38.7 million grant) through the German Development Bank KfW.
INSPIREE Project also underscores strong donor coordination within the Joint European Financiers for International Cooperation (JEFIC) Initiative, which promotes European cooperation and co-financing for achieving sustainable development, and reinforces Moldova’s commitment to European Union integration.
