The tower type R-60 to be used during the construction of a new 400 kV Vulcanesti-Chisinau single-circuit overhead transmission line (OHTL), was tested. The expertise was carried out following a series of specific tests performed during February 6 – 21 of the current year at the tower testing station of the Structural Engineering Research Centre (SERC), Chennai, India.
According to experts` conclusions, the towers meet the technical requirements and will withstand the specific weather conditions of the Republic of Moldova.
The new 400 kV Vulcanesti-Chisinau single-circuit overhead transmission line (OHTL) will be built using three types of towers: R-NS, R-30 and R-60. The R-NS and R-30 towers were tested in September and December of year 2022.
The construction of the OHTL is part of the Power System Development Project, financed by the World Bank and implemented by the Government of Republic of Moldova through MEPIU - Moldova Energy Projects Implementation Unit. Besides the construction of Vulcanesti-Chisinau OHTL, the project provides for the extension and modernization of two substations and strengthening of power dispatch and metering system. Project implementation period: 2022-2024.
